Supercharged Solar for Renters Now Open in Queensland

There is new support available for Queensland landlords looking to improve energy efficiency in their rental properties.

The Queensland Government’s Supercharged Solar for Renters program opened on 12 December 2025 and offers eligible landlords rebates of up to $3,500 to install solar systems on rental homes.

The initiative is designed to benefit both landlords and tenants. Around 6,500 households are expected to save approximately $700 per year on electricity bills, depending on location and system size.

For landlords, installing solar can improve a property’s appeal, strengthen its position in the rental market and potentially enhance overall asset value. As energy costs remain a focus for households, efficiency upgrades are becoming an increasingly relevant consideration for tenants when choosing where to live.

The Queensland Government has also released a solar for rentals calculator, allowing landlords and tenants to estimate potential return on investment and projected electricity savings based on location, energy usage, electricity plan and system size.

Programs such as this provide a practical opportunity to enhance rental properties while supporting tenants with lower running costs.
